Hands –on Learning Experiences through Short Nature Education Programme
The students from New Horizon Public School were briefed about CEE’s work and introduced to short NEP and various habitats they would visit as a part of this programme. The students were divided in two groups to be taken to the forest for a nature trail. Experts conducted sessions on the habitat types, connections between organisms, and how forests affect the climate. They also helped them identify flora and fauna that were spotted during the trail. The students were also asked to write a report based on their experience.
The programme concluded with an interaction between the Karnataka Forest Department officials, and the students. A certificate of participation was also awarded. A total of 156 students and 10 teachers participated in the Short NEP over the course of 5 days.
Short NEP is an ongoing hands-on learning programme for college and school going students involving a visit to the forest and utilizing visual experiences to understand science and the environment.
