Aerospectrum 2015 took place at CEE, Ahmedabad on December 9, 2015. A welcome address by Mr J.K.Vyas, Head- Industrial Pollution Prevention Group, CEE was followed by a key note address from Dr S K Nanda CMD, GSFC. Dr B. Sengupta, Ex- Member Secretary Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), New Delhi talked about different aspects of air pollution and remedial measures to curb this type of pollution. In the session, Dr Anjali Srivastava, Head, Zonal Laboratory, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, (NEERI) New Delhi, talked about air quality modeling. Mr M. A. Patil, Director FICCI, New Delhi informed the audience about air pollution control in different industries specifically in various types of furnaces. Dr P. S. Rao, Head Air Pollution Control Division, NEERI Nagpur informed about methods of air quality monitoring and subsequent action to mitigate air pollution. Dr J.R. Parikh, Ex-Joint Director, National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOH) discussed about effects of various air pollutant on human health. Dr S.A. Puranik Director, AIT Rajkot talked about cleaner production as a mitigation measure for air pollution control. Mr V. R Ghadge, Sr. Environmental Engineer Gujarat Pollution Control Board, Gandhinagar and Dr Prashant Gargava SEE (CPCB) also attended the session. At the end of technical sessions, the panel discussion was carried out where in experts replied queries from participants’ personnel from industries, academia, NGOs and consulting firms, local bodies, media, instruments manufactures and suppliers, students and researchers. The experts further provided recommendations for prevention and control of air pollution from vehicles, industries and other sources. With addition to these recommendations, the local body shall prepare a source apportionment report through a renowned institute like NEERI, IIT B, IIT K etc. and prepare a comprehensive air pollution action plan indicating action point for each enforcing agencies and all other stakeholders.
