Wetskills India 2015

The Wetskills India 2015 programme, which is a collaboration of the Wetskills Foundation (Netherlands), the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and the Centre for Environment Education (CEE), was held on the CEE Campus in Ahmedabad from November 28, 2015 to December 11, 2015. The programme, which was held in India for the first time, was supported by the Green Environment Services Cooperative Society Limited and Gujarat Pollution Control Board in India. The participants of the programme included 25 students and young professionals from Netherlands as well as India.
During the two week programme, prominent names in the water sector such as Mr. Mahesh Singh, IFS, CEO, Water Sanitation and Management Organization (WASMO) and Mr. V.R. Ghadge from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), Ms. Darshana Patel from the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Ahmedabad and Mr. Deepak Davda from the Common Affluent Treatment Plant (CETP) addressed the students and provided them with relevant details and information about various issues related to water. Thereafter, the students were divided into five groups wherein each group focused on one case study and visited the respective field offices of their case studies which included visits to CETP Ahmedabad, STP Surat, STP Ahmedabad, CEE Halvad Campus and the water harvesting structures in the old city of Ahmedabad.

After their visits, the teams were engaged in working out feasible solutions to the water problems they studied and analysed during their visits. At the end of the programme, the teams presented their solutions in the form of posters and presentations on December 11, 2015.
