Celebration of World Food Day
CEE is implementing Samvardhan - a project for improving the quality of lives of tribals in south Gujarat - in
24 villages grouped into four clusters.
In Kaparada cluster, Community Entrepreneurs (CEs) celebrated World Food Day (16 October) in Ambe Jungle village. The main objective of the programme was to make people aware of the rich food diversity that exists in the tribal area and its helpfulness in nurturing people.
In an interactive session, Dr. Daxa Patel, ARCH organisation, Dharampur, explained the importance of various types of food items available in the area and their benefits, the seasonal variation in food requirement of our body and which food item to take in which season. She also presented a slide show on women health during pregnancy and type of precautions needed to be taken at various stages.
An exhibition of indigenous food prepared by the women of the village was also organised. The items included food prepared from vegetables, grains, cereals, pulses etc.
A bout 60 women and 10 men from three village participated in the programme.
