A day-long seminar for conservation of Harrier birds in Gujarat was held at Centre for Environment Education, Ahmedabad on 1st Feb 2012, co-organized by the Forests Department of Gujarat, the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Centre for Environment Education, Ahmedabad.

Mr. Kartikeya Sarabhai, Director, CEE delivered the 51st Nanabhai Bhatt Memorial Lecture held on January 9-10 at Lok Bharti, Sanosara, near Bhavnagar. Lok Bharti, is a rural university imparting higher education, based on the vision of its founder Nanabhai Bhatt. 2013 marks 60 years of its establishment.

The 10th anniversary of International Mountain Day (IMD) was celebrated by CEE Himalaya and partners in the states of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), Himachal Pradesh (HP) and Uttarakhand. Over 300 students, 50 teachers and concerned citizens shared their views on ecosystem services.

During United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP 18 Doha, CEE was involved in the side event on 'Low Carbon Vision for a Sustainable India' that was held on December 3. Mr. Kartikeya Sarabhai, Director, CEE in his keynote address, stated that the current paradigm of development is unsustainable.

Dr. Abdhesh Gangwar, Programme Director, CEE Himalaya was invited as a resource person by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) to address to their three-day 'National Youth Forum (India) on Green Solutions'. The event was a part of ICIMOD's youth programme Post Rio+20 contexts.

Mr. Kartikeya V. Sarabhai, Director, CEE addressed two gatherings in Japan, sharing thoughts on DESD and the way forward. As a keynote speaker at the 'Global Citizen's Conference on DESD 2012' he shared his concept of the paradigm shift this is required in the process of development followed by developing countries, in order to achieve sustainability.
