CEE & GPCB conduct training in industrial waste water treatment

215 industrial personnel were trained in the field of industrial waste water treatment at the awareness and training programme organized on 5th August, 2015, at CEE Ahmedabad. The training programme, organized jointly by CEE and Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), focused on creating awareness on industrial waste water treatment and related issues by providing solutions through case studies.

The participating personnel received training in maintenance and operation of Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETPs), advanced treatment methods for industries and CETPs, innovative and sustainable techniques for treatment of effluent bearing high COD and TDS, performance evaluation of EMS of a Common Infrastructure facility and troubleshooting, and the importance of designing aspects in primary treatment for industrial waste water treatment.

Dignitaries to speak on the occasion included Dr. S R Wate, Director – National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur, Shri V R Ghadge, Senior Environmental Engineer (SEE) GPCB, Dr. B R Naidu, Zonal Officer – Central Pollution Control Board, Dr. S A Puranik, Director & Environmental Auditor, Schedule-I, Atmiya Institute of Technology and Science (AITS), Rajkot, Dr. Natarajan Pratap, Deputy Director, National Productivity Council – Gandhinagar, Mr. S V S Sudhakara Rao, MD - Enviro Tech Water Management Pvt Ltd, Ms. Huma Saiyed, Professor – L. D. College of Engineering, and Mr. Deepak Davda, CEO – The Green Environment Services Co-op. Soc. Ltd. (GESCL).

He emphasized on the need for environment conservation, and also spoke of the Sustainable Development Goals and their relevance in the current day scenario. Ms. Shivani Jain, Programme Director – Networking & Capacity Building, CEE, and Mr. Praveen Prakash, Programme Coordinator – Sustainable Business & Climate Change, CEE, also took sessions on education and industrialization.
