Training of Key Resource Persons of UP in Environmental Education:

CEE organized 5-day training on EE for key resource persons of Institute of Advanced Study in Education (IASE) and its affiliated institutions, at IASE, Allahabad. The programme was aimed at training key resource persons as the trainers to further train the teachers of standards 6-8 through 12 teacher trainings organized by the SCERT throughout the State of UP. The overall objective was to orient and train school teachers in making teaching learning locally relevant, interesting and meaningful towards achieving sustainable development and in implementing EE effectively in compliance to the verdict of Hon’ble Supreme Court, Government of India.

The contents of the 5-day training programme included EE - Contents and methodologies in the context of NCF – 2005; Greening of textbooks – experience in UP and country wide; What to expect from greening – EE outcomes, methodologies, tools and techniques of evaluation; Locale-specific education & communication material, Schools/teachers developing their own locale-specific EE resource material; “Umang” - the concept of a school without walls; Anandshala (school where teaching/learning is through fun): the hardware and software; Alternative teaching learning methodologies; Green Games; Local environmental problems vis-a-vis teaching learning in schools; Local Environment Quality Monitoring; Natural disasters, damage and impact on children, disaster risk reduction strategy; Evacuation and preparedness plan of schools and villages; Psycho-social care: the role of teachers etc. More than 25 faculty members including senior members the Principal, Readers and senior lecturers attended the training.
