Green Teacher - Nigeria
National Teachers Institute (NTI),
Kaduna,
Nigeria works with a mission to upgrade/update teachers’ knowledge
and skills in curriculum implementation while instilling in them the
virtues of dedication, loyalty, commitment, discipline and
resourcefulness.
NTI has been keenly interested in implementing a programme in EE to
be offered in Nigeria. Towards this NTI designated a team of four
faculty members to understand the “Green Teacher Programme” being
implemented in India, to be able to implement the same in Nigeria.
This opportunity was also used as an orientation workshop on
environmental education in formal education for the NTI team.
Thus, with support from
COL,
“Green Teacher Nigeria Planning Workshop” was conducted by CEE. The
main objectives of the workshop were:
§
To orient National Teachers Institute (NTI) team to Environmental
Education and Education for Sustainable Development.
§
To help them understand the Green Teacher Programme in the Indian
Formal Education context.
§
To have preliminary discussions and draft strategy and Action Plan
for Green Teacher Nigeria.
