Year 2008 is being observed as International Year of Sanitation. The latest data on health of school children shows that sanitation related habits and nutrition plays very important role in ensuring the retention of children in schools.
Understanding the urgency of promoting good health and sanitation in schools, CEE and State Council of Education, Research and Training (SCERT) is organizing state-level resource persons training programmes. The programme aims to cover all the 70 districts in the State through five batches of the training programme.
Two training programmes held at SCERT where around 50 district level resource persons from 22 districts participated. Resource persons and officials from various government departments, NCERT, NGOs, medical institutions addressed the participants. This capacity building programme is first level programme which aims to reach to district level master trainers and then to teachers and finally to schools.
The training programme covers various aspects of health education such as personal hygiene, malnutrition, environmental sanitation and pollution, disease prevention, preparation for school health and sanitation plans.
