The Science Express is a joint project of Vikram A Sarabhai Community Science Centre, Department of Science and Technology, Max Planck Institute, Germany, Indian Railways, and National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC). The Science Express programme started in 2007 and has successfully completed two phases.
In the third phase a Climate Change Coach funded by Hong Kong Shanghai Bank Corporation (HSBC) was developed by CEE.
There were five main themes in the exhibition which included Introduction to Climate change, Balance in Nature, Global Warming, Climate Change evidences and impacts, Mitigation and Adaptation, Action for Climate Change and Information on India’s Stand on Climate Change. A list of key institutes working on climate change was also provided for.
Simple facts like “how the seasons take place?” or “why there is life on earth?” or “where does a tree gain its weight from?” or “what is the difference between global warming and climate change?” were explained visually. Three models which include a Tree – depicting CO2 sequestration, Global Warming Model and Handprint Voting Machine were installed in the coach. |
