  1. World Ocean Passport: The ‘Global Passport of the Citizen of the Ocean’ initiated by the World Ocean Network, is supported by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of the UNESCO,UNEP Global Programme of Action and the Global Forum for Oceans Coasts and Islands. The objective is to inform, educate and involve a variety of stakeholders in action programmes related to the conservation of oceans. The passport has information on actions, which the passport holder can undertake along with information on Network projects.

  2. CEE Sri Lanka: Centre for Environment Education - Sri Lanka has recently been registered, to share EE approaches, programmes and materials between the two countries, and develop synergies among educators in the two countries. Among the first programmes that CEE Sri Lanka will take up are Water and Sanitation education, species-focused school education, and tsunami rehabilitation initiatives.

  3. Green Teacher Distance Learning Programme: CEE, in partnership with Commonwealth of Learning, Canada, has launched the ‘Green Teacher Course’ - a distance learning programme for teachers. The Green Teacher Course aims to give teachers a basic and conceptual understanding of the science of environment and present-day environmental concerns, as well as develop in them the skills of utilizing interactive and experimental teaching-learning methodologies.

  4. Rethink refuse reduce… Education for sustainability in a changing world by Ken Webster: This is a book of insights, arguments and help. It will be of interest to educators, school managers and workshop leaders. It discusses the weakness of current approaches and provides off-the-shelf and adaptable resources to reinvigorate discussion. This book has been published by Field Studies Council, UK.




  5. Understanding Environment: Edited by Kiran Chhokar; Mamata Pandya and Meena Raghunathan: Designed as a basic text for foundation and undergraduate courses in Environmental Studies, this book introduces students to key scientific concepts related to environment and sustainable development. It provides a comprehensive understanding of environmental concerns and issues with special reference to the Indian context. This book highlights the interconnectedness of phenomena in real life, and the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature of environmental studies. It presents case studies to highlight examples of individual and collective action that have ‘made a difference’. It provides self-learning exercises for each chapter to help develop skills of observation, data collection, analysis, synthesis and presentation

  6. Environment and Sustainable Development Forum: The Environment and Sustainable Development Forum is a network of experts and practitioners in various areas of Environment and Development. The forum is seen as a way to bring together expert opinion on key policy issues and provide policy and practical support to promote sustainable development and resource management. The activities of the Forum will include organizing workshops and seminars, including lectures on environment and development themes by forum members in their area of specialization.

  7. Launch of Hands On Programme: Over the past 5 years, Television for Environment (TVE) has produced over 150 programmes of Hands On, a television programme that showcases practical solutions to a broad range of development concerns. Hands On is a regular part of TVE’s Earth Report series that is broadcast weekly on BBC World, China Educational TV, and television channels in a large number of other countries. As a Video Resource Centre of the TVE - Asia Pacific, CEE has produced language versions of 57 Hands On stories in four Indian languages.

  8. Launch of 'www.cleanerproduction.org' :

    The objective of setting up www.cleanerproduction.org is to help access information particularly on the limitations encountered by stakeholders in the industry - environment interface in "enabling cleaner solutions". Highlights of successes and approaches adopted will be given equal importance with a special emphasis on reality checks. Emerging trends including eco - industrial development and the need to improve preparedness of stakeholders to respond to imperatives of sustainable development will be the other special focus areas. This site is supported by the Naroda Enviro Projects Limited and the Naroda Industries Association. The site was launched by Shri Atul Bagai, Coordinator, Regional Networking, Compliance Assistance Programme, UNEP ROAP, Bangkok.

  9. One Sun, Two Worlds: An Ecological Journey: This UNESCO-CEE publication has been developed under a UNESCO supported project by a team lead by Prof. P S Ramakrishnan, of Jawaharlal Nehru University. It aims to reach out to rural communities in easy to understand language and a simple conversational style. The book takes readers on a journey through a dialogue between the Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) and the Formal knowledge (FK) systems. Published by the Oxford& IBH, it is meant to raise awareness about conservation of natural resources linked with sustainable livelihood/development of rural communities.

  10. AAWaM Poster Launch: Six posters in English and Hindi will help set in motion the educational programme required to achieve participation in sustainable waste management in each of the Ecocities – Puri, Tirupati, Ujjain and Vrindavan supported by ASEM, a joint organization of MoEF and GTZ and implemented by CEE.

  11. Water Education Van: A van has been outfitted with educational kits, interactive exhibits, audio-visual equipment, and other teaching-learning material. This van will be a means of taking innovative education strategies to remote, rural areas of Gujarat.
