Growing scientific evidence in the 1980s linking global climate change with greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from human activities prompted several governments to collectively address the emerging concerns about the impacts of global warming. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change was adopted and ratified by several countries, and negotiations are currently on to work out the mechanisms and modalities for providing options for GHG abatement to countries and their industry.

This website has been designed to provide information that will help business journalists, as well as business and industry, in India access relevant information about the mechanisms and opportunities available to them in the context of greenhouse gas abatement, and also about some concerns related to the opportunities.

This website has been developed by Centre for Environment Education, India and GreenCOM, an Environmental Education & Communication Project of United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
