NGC-Arunachal Pradesh

Since 2002 CEE has been the Resource Agency (RA) in 15 states and two UTs for this countrywide awareness programme initiated and funded by MoEF. The NGC Secretariat is located at CEE South. In each state a local organisation is designated as Nodal Agency (NA). NGC aims at spreading environmental awareness among school children through eco-club activities, and through children in society at large. Activities taken up during the year are reported below.

A one-day TTW was organised by the Social Forestry Division, Department of Environment & Forests, the implementing agency for Papum Pare District. Thirty-one teachers from the district participated in the programme and shared their views and problems regarding implementation of the programme.

The Offcier-in-Charge, WWF, Itanagar, made a presentation on local biodiversity and environmental issues of Arunachal Pradesh. The CEE-NE representative discussed NGC— Present Status of NE States and Eco-Club – What, Why & How. There was also a discussion on different kinds of activities and projects that eco-clubs can do under the NGC programme. EE Games like Who am I?, Chinese Whispers and Need & Want were played with the teachers, and the importance and significance of these games was interpreted.
