Sanitation & Hygiene Education:

Funded by the Government of Karnataka, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (KRWSSA), the programme sought to orient 550 upper primary school teachers on water and school sanitation among school children.

The districts covered under this orientation programme included were Bidar, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bijapur, Belguam, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Uttar Kannada, Koppal and Bagalkot.

Major project activities undertaken were

development of an educational material kit including

an activity-based teachers' manual on Water, Health and Sanitation;
two posters on personal and school hygiene;
two banners carrying sanitation and water conservation messages;
Water Conservation Game chart;
Slide and ladder sanitation chart; and

day-long teacher orientation programmes in each of the 11 districts.
