THEThirumullaivasal Hygiene Education Project:

CEE in association with ADER (Association for regional economic development) initiated THE Project is to set a hygiene education programme for the reconstruction of permanent houses for the Tsunami affected community of Thirumullaivasal in the district of Nagapattinam, in the state of Tamil Nadu, in Southern India.

Structural changes made in school - painting works, creating of blackboard in each class room as per Sarva Siksha Abhiyan plan, cleaning of school campus, temporary wall repair of school compound, cleaning of toilets, flooring work, mid-day meal kitchen premises cleaned and white washed, Soak pits constructed for hand wash and drinking water installation, plantations facilitated.

Health classes were initiated on a regular basis. Further, children from the fishing village also participate in the school activities. Panchayat member’s active involvement in school campus improvement facilitated another organization to take up school campus leveling work to prevent flooding during monsoon. Teachers reported 90% attendance of students following the activities, earlier only 50% attendance was recorded.

Village garbage removal through JCB machine work was completed, Panchayat and village community also involved in the process. Contact:
