Since 2005, CEE is working with State Departments of Education (SDEs) across India towards Strengthening Environment Education in School System (StrEESS). Under the project, CEE initiated discussions with various State Education Departments. CEE has facilitated the development of proposals by various State Departments of Education focusing on the action plan for various activities such as developing / facilitating implementation of the EE curriculum, orientation of text book writers, development of text books, development of teaching-learning materials, teachers training etc.

CEE developed a national status report titled “Environmental Education in the School System of India”. An assessment of the use of EESS experience in the present context was also done. The report on assessment of continued benefits of EESS was developed where review study exercise was done in all states where EESS project was implemented.

Discussion held with State Education Department regarding revision of proposal submitted last year. The department is keen in submitting a fresh proposal as per the latest development in the State. CEE had meetings with Principal Secretary Education to discuss the StrEESS Plan. The SDE is keen in developing TLM to support existing curriculum. The proposal development is being discussed.

A state of EE in the Andhra Pradesh was compiled by CEE with the help of SCERT, State Institute of Educational Technology and Board of Intermediate Education. During the year, a study was conducted to review the utilization of the EESS experience in terms of greened textbooks and master trainers.
