TVE Hands On Travelling Film Festivals:

CEE is a Video Resource Centre of TVE Asia Pacific that has developed Hands On series localized in Hindi. This series was launched in a function held at Raipur in March 2005 by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Government of Chhattisgarh.

The Travelling Film Festival and panel discussions were organized in the Bastar region at Jagdalpur and Kondagaon. For the Festival at Jagdalpur, films were screened in three sessions each for:

• Artists and Social Organisations
• Educators and Media Persons and
• Government Officials and general public.

Besides the Hands-On series, films made by a local media group in Bastar were also screened. Group discussions in three sessions gave a platform for sharing concerns about developmental processes in Bastar region which is predominantly tribal region with a rich natural and cultural heritage. Concerns about conserving natural environment were expressed by people from different walks of life. The Festival at Kondagaon was organized for three groups in different locations:

• School children
• Forest Protection Committee members and Forest Officials
• General Public

Participants besides appreciating TFF expressed how such events could help creating environmental awareness and most importantly analyzing and discussing local environmental issues and their possible solutions at the local level
